Moving from Beijing to Singapore

Ms. Wang was preparing to relocate from Beijing to Singapore for long-term residence and wanted to bring some furniture from her home in China along with her. After learning about international relocation services, Ms. Wang carefully evaluated her options and ultimately chose "熙浦国际搬家" as her carrier for moving from Beijing to Singapore.

International relocation differs from domestic moving in its complex procedures, which can be especially daunting for first-time international movers. To save time and hassle, Ms. Wang chose Seapoe's door-to-door dual-clearance service, covering packing, customs declaration, ocean shipping, customs clearance, and delivery—all handled by Seapoe. Ms. Wang only needed to provide the relevant documents and then could wait comfortably in her new Singapore home for her furniture and belongings to be delivered. To ensure the safety of the items during transit, Seapoe provides professional packing services using high-quality packing materials and packs the furniture to be shipped in accordance with international moving standards. In addition, on the advice of Seapoe staff, Ms. Wang purchased international moving insurance to add an extra layer of protection for her furniture's journey.

Notes on moving from Beijing to Singapore:

1. Documents required for customs clearance of personal effects in Singapore: copy of passport, visa, employment pass, packing list, and customs clearance form.

2. Singapore regulations stipulate that new immigrants, upon landing, may bring in personal effects within a reasonable scope duty-free. These items must be imported within 6 months of entry; after 6 months, GST is payable.

3. Most goods entering or leaving Singapore are subject to zero customs duty. Special tariff rates apply to liquor, tobacco (including cigarettes), sugar products, and refrigerators. Tariff rates are generally low, with an ad valorem duty rate of 5% on goods; only automobiles are the exception, at a rate of 45%.

4. For valuable or fragile items among the consigned goods, custom-built fumigation-free wooden crates are recommended for packing.
