Case Overview: Ms. Gao entrusted Seapoe Relo to ship furniture and personal belongings from her Guangzhou home to Singapore by sea

Due to work reasons, Ms. Gao from Guangzhou was assigned to work and live in Singapore. She spent half a day browsing local furniture stores, but the prices were either too high or the styles didn't appeal to her. After much comparison, Ms. Gao decisively decided to ship large furniture, appliances, clothing and other items from China to Singapore by sea. On the recommendation of friends around her, she chose Seapoe Relo.

During the moving process, the professional team of movers carefully packed everything with multiple layers of protection to ensure the safety of the items. They maintained smooth communication with Ms. Gao throughout the entire process, promptly notifying the customer of logistics information, and customized a dedicated shipping plan. They declared the furniture and items in a reasonable manner to achieve duty-free customs clearance, and the subsequent door-to-door moving service was both worry-free and effortless. Duty-free customs clearance for sea shipments to Singapore has a series of fairly clear requirements, detailed below:
I. Visa and Time Requirements
1. Holders of Chinese passports must have a Singapore long-term visa valid for more than one year, such as a work pass (EP, SP, WP, etc.) or permanent residence (PR). Singapore citizens must provide proof of continuous work or residence in a country outside Singapore for 6 to 12 months.

2. When processing, the original passport and a copy (with clear visa pages) are required. Work pass holders also need the original work pass and employment certification documents (such as an employment contract). Singapore citizens must provide proof of overseas work or residence (such as an employment certification letter or proof of residential address).

II. Nature of Items
1. Items must be used personal belongings, as determined by signs of wear, traces of use, and purchase time. During declaration, items must be described truthfully, and purchase receipts or other supporting documents may be required. Special items such as antiques require professional appraisal certificates.

2. Prohibited items such as illegal drugs, weapons and ammunition, flammable and explosive materials, pirated products, and infringing goods cannot be shipped. Before shipping, applicants must familiarize themselves with the prohibited items list, and shipping companies also have a responsibility to inspect.

III. Time Limits
Customs clearance for personal-use items must be completed within 6 months of arrival at the port, based on the arrival date, during which declaration, payment (if applicable), inspection and other procedures must be completed. If clearance is completed after the 6-month deadline, a consumption tax of 8% of the declared value will be levied, and strict inspections and additional fees may also be imposed.
