Singapore is known as the "Garden City State." Located near the equator, it is lush with greenery and enjoys summer all year round, making it highly suitable for living. In addition, Singapore is a society with Chinese cultural roots, and its sound public security, developed economy, excellent education, comprehensive welfare system, and well-established legal system all attract many Chinese people to settle there long-term.

Mr. Li from Shanghai needed to ship some luggage and a few pieces of furniture to Singapore. The items were not many, totaling about 4 cubic meters combined. He could choose Seapoe's consolidated shipping service, sharing a container with other customers for LCL sea freight to Singapore—this is the best shipping solution for those with a small volume of items not suitable for checked baggage. To ensure the safe transport of the items, Seapoe staff professionally packed the furniture to be shipped at the time of pickup. Seapoe provides professional packing materials that meet the standards set by the International Association of Movers (IAM), and combined with the workers' skilled packing techniques, this effectively guarantees the safety of the items during transport. Although moving from Shanghai to Singapore involves a long distance and many procedures, it is not difficult for a professional international moving company. Mr. Li chose Seapoe's door-to-door dual customs clearance service, entrusting everything to Seapoe—he only needed to provide copies of his passport and visa, making it truly worry-free and hassle-free. Below is the on-site pickup and packing at Mr. Li's home that day:

Things to know when moving from Shanghai to Singapore:

1. Materials required for customs declaration and clearance:
(1) Copies of documents:
A. If you are a new immigrant or a Singapore PR cardholder, provide a copy of your passport with the photo page and visa page; B. If you are on a work visa, please provide a copy of your Employment Pass; C. If you are a Singapore citizen returning home, you need to provide a copy of your domestic residence permit, employment permit, and passport with the photo page and visa page.
(2) Packing list in English:
A packing list filled out in English, clearly stating the name of each item and noting the duration of use. If the shipped items are brand new, the value of the items must be stated. These can be completed by the international moving company.
(3) Ocean Bill of Lading:
The ocean B/L is the document for claiming goods. The shipper section shows our company, the consignee shows your overseas recipient, and the notify party shows Seapoe's Singapore agent. The description of goods on the B/L should indicate "personal effects" and "personal property."
(4) Singapore Declaration of Facts form
This is the personal effects customs clearance form required by Singapore Customs to be completed in the destination country. You need to fill it out about one week before the items arrive at port and fax or scan it to Seapoe's Singapore agent.

2. Singapore Customs import policy for personal effects:
If you are a new immigrant, citizen, or Employment Pass holder, personal effects and personal property used in China for more than 6 months and brought back to Singapore can enjoy duty-free concessions. For brand-new items, Singapore will impose a 3% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the value of the items. Singapore has no customs duty on most personal effects and personal property.
